FRANCIS McCANN

Cadet Francis McCann was an engineer aboard the ship SS Meriwether Lewis during World War II. On the night of March 2^nd, 1943 his ship was torpedoed and sunk by German Submarines. On board the ship were forty-eight merchant crew and twenty-eight members of the Naval Armed Guard. The ship sunk at 0443 leaving no survivors. That afternoon, Cadet Francis McCann was pronounced dead.
