McCALL
Cadet George D. McCall was a Deck Officer aboard the SS Robert Bacon
during World War II. On the evening
of July 13th, 1943 his ship was torpedoed by German Submarines. The ship took three torpedoes before it sank at 0030 on July
14th, 1943. A small
portion of the crew managed to get away in two of the five lifeboats. However, most of the crew aboard the SS Robert Bacon
did not survive the torpedo attack. Cadet
McCall was reported dead on July 14th, 1943.
