GEORGE D. McCALL

Cadet George D. McCall was a Deck Officer aboard the SS Robert Bacon during World War II.  On the evening of July 13th, 1943 his ship was torpedoed by German Submarines.  The ship took three torpedoes before it sank at 0030 on July 14th, 1943.  A small portion of the crew managed to get away in two of the five lifeboats.  However, most of the crew aboard the SS Robert Bacon did not survive the torpedo attack.  Cadet McCall was reported dead on July 14th, 1943.
