JOSEPH DICICCO 

    Joseph Dicicco was an engineering major at the Academy when he was tragically killed while serving his country in World War II on the Merchant Ship American Leader.  The C-1 type freighter was attacked was sunk by the German Raider Michel about 1930 ships time on September 10, 1942 while en route from Colombo, Ceylon to Newport news Virginia and New York via Capes town South Africa.  She was attacked 800 miles west of Cape Good Hope, while carrying 49 Naval crew and 9 Naval armed guards.  Ten crewmembers were killed and the rest taken prisoner by the Germans unfortunately Joseph Dicicco was not one of the survivors.
