JAY F. LITTON

            Cadet Jay F. Litton, a engine major, served aboard the SS JOHN L. MOTLEY, a Liberty ship. German aircraft about 1940 local time bombed the SS JOHN L. MOTLEY on December 2, 1943 in Bari, Italy. She was loaded with a cargo of explosives and high octane gasoline. Her compliment was 45 merchant crew and 28 Naval Armed Guard. Of this number, 39 crew members and 24 Navy men were killed.
