JAMES O. MOON
James O. Moon was a Cadet aboard the
SS William C. Gorgas during World War II.
He was defending the country that gave him his freedom. As an engineer, he had been observing and maintaining his
post at all times down inside the engine room, keeping an eye on the bilge pump
and many other components of the propulsion system. On March 11, 1942 he made the ultimate sacrifice.
His ship was attacked and sunk by a U-757.
Cadet Moon was reported dead later that afternoon.
