WARREN B. CARRIERE

Warren B. Carriere was a deck major at the Merchant Marine Academy.  He spent his sea year on the SS Maiden Creek I.  This steam ship was on a supply route when two torpedoes suddenly hit it.  The ship was severely damaged and on fire.  It capsized and it dumped burning oil in the water.  The oil stayed at the top and many men lost there lives because of the oil.  The only people that survived were the people that jumped over board and could get away from the oil fires.
